Permissions We Request

Guardian360 requests the following permissions on your device. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose:

Camera Used to capture photos or video within the app for security and monitoring features.

Microphone / Record Audio Used to record audio for safety alerts, voice-triggered features, or emergency sound detection.

Location (Fine, Coarse & Background) Used to track your real-time location for guardian monitoring, geofencing, and safety check-ins — including when the app runs in the background.

Notifications Used to send alerts, reminders, and emergency notifications to keep you informed.

Alarms & Exact Scheduling Used to trigger scheduled check-ins, reminders, and time-sensitive safety alerts at precise times.

Boot on Startup Allows the app to restart monitoring services automatically after your device reboots, ensuring continuous protection.

Foreground Service Keeps location tracking and safety monitoring active in the background while you use other apps.

Storage / Media Access Used to read and save images captured within the app for reporting or sharing safety incidents.

Data We Collect

Depending on the features you use, Guardian360 may collect:

Real-time and historical GPS location data
Camera images or video clips captured during app use
Audio recordings triggered by app features
Device information (model, OS version, unique identifiers)
App usage and interaction logs (via Firebase Analytics)
Notification interaction data

How We Use Your Data

We use the data collected for the following purposes only:

Sending emergency alerts and safety notifications
Enabling check-in reminders and scheduled alarms

Data Sharing

Your data may be shared with the following third-party services solely to operate app features:

Google Firebase — Analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications
Google Maps / Location Services — Location display and geofencing
Authorized guardians — Location and check-in status shared only with users you explicitly connect with in the app

All third-party services are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

We use the Grok API (developed by xAI) to power our AI chatbot feature. Messages you send to the chatbot are transmitted to xAI's servers to generate responses. These messages are subject to xAI's Privacy Policy at https://x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide app services or as required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Location history and recordings are stored for a limited period and are automatically purged after that window unless you choose to save them manually within the app.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent for any permission at any time via your device settings
Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority

You can revoke any permission (camera, microphone, location, etc.) at any time through your Android device's Settings → Apps → Guardian360 → Permissions.
